Day two at Cardigan, Thursday September 23, 2021
Yellow Group Me and my dad Got in our car and drove up to cardigan. Then we got off the bus and met with our guides. This was the day of the big hike. Our guides told us what we were going to be doing and how we would do it. Then we started hiking to cardigan. After about an hour or so it started raining which meant we had to take a break and get our raincoats on. After that we played a game where our guide hid the paper clip. A little more than ¾ of the way up we had lunch on PJ ledge. About half an hour later we were on bare rock which was hard to climb when it was raining. When we finally got to the top we took a photo and went over to the summit of firescrew. When we were coming down firescrew we saw a little mole. A little bit further down Molly sprained her ankle. The rest of the group went down while, me, my Dad, and Molly’s Mom went down at a slower pace. Then Molly and her mom drove off while me and my Dad went into the lodge to spend the night.
While I was at Cardigan I noticed there were a few regions. The summit of Cardigan is a region called the alpine zone. Whithin the alpine zone there is another region called allpine bog. Part of the Cardigan is in the White Mountian natioanl forest. Also on the map those blue lines are the region of a watershed.The AMC lodge is in the region of the AMC Forest reservation.
